Storage Update for 2020-2021 Season and Forward

Walton County Snowbird Members – Storage Facility for 2021/2022

You recently received an email from Donna Reed, President, Walton County Snowbirds, advising that the Board has decided that we will not be conducting the majority of our 2020/2021 season activities.

However, the Board has decided to continue our long term storage facility service for the next 2021/2022 season, albeit at an increased cost of $5 (US$) per item to reflect the cost increases imposed on us for insurance and storage unit rentals fees.

For those members that have items in storage currently and are not planning to return to Florida this season, we will offer these alternatives for handling your belongings:

·       Arrange for designated party to collect your goods this season at the designated pickup times.

·       Leave your goods in storage and then pay the revised fees for storage for the 2021/2022 season.

·       Advise us to dispose of your goods to a local charity.

We will contact you by email in January 2021 to seek your direction and give you the exact payment details based on the goods you currently have in storage.

We will collect payment from US members via check sent to our PO Box in Miramar Beach. We expect to be able to receive payment from our Canadian members in CDN$ funds sent to our Canadian Co-Treasurer.

2020-2021 Walton County Snowbird Season Suspended

Dear Walton County Snowbird Members,

The Executive Board has made the difficult decision to suspend the 2020-2021 season. This was a very hard and sad decision to make but there is no way we could responsibly hold meetings or sponsor activities.  While there may be groups that come together, these groups are NOT sponsored by our Club and should not in any way be advertised as such.

I know this is disappointing.  Everyone on the Board is disappointed as well.  But we value the health and wellbeing of our members over everything else.  The current Executive Board did commit to stay intact through the 2021-2022 season. For those traveling to Destin, we encourage you to patronize our many sponsors who have supported the Club through the years.  This has not been an easy year for them.

If you have items in storage, you will receive an e-mail next week.  There will be instructions for those not returning and those returning.  As you may know, a new company purchased our storage facility and they increased our rent. In order to ensure that we cover our costs, the Board decided to increase the rental fee by $5.00 per item for the 2021 storage year. We  apologize for this, but the Club cannot afford to bear the additional cost.

Please watch our website, www.waltoncountysnowbirds.com for updates.  If you haven’t done so already, please sign up for the Breaking News.  This will ensure you’ll receive important updates as they are announced.

We look forward to seeing you in December 2021 or January 2022.  Until then, stay safe and healthy.

Executive Board
