Help for a community that was devastated by Hurricane Michael

Help for a community that was devastated by Hurricane Michael

The Walton County Snowbird Executive Board are asking if every Snowbird will bring a couple of non-perishable food items with them to every General Meeting held at the Destin United Methodist Church this season. There will be boxes near the entrance doors for these donations.

The Church and Associate Pastor WB are working in conjunction with the Fire Department in the town of Fountain, Florida; who have actually moved the fire engines out of the station and have set up a shelter for their residents. The small town was completely devastated by Hurricane Michael and most residents are still without power and water.  The Fire Department is cooking meals for most of the town residents and they are in desperate need of non-perishable food items.

So many snowbirds have wondered how they might help families impacted by the hurricane, and this seems to be a good way because the need for food will continue for a long time.  The town was cash poor before Michael hit, and many of the residents have lost everything including their jobs.  Pastor WB assured us that it will be a very long time before Fountain will be able to recover.
Thank you for your help!
